Even though the movies can be directly copied from DVD to iPhone, to make sure that the movies are in MP4 format, it should be first copied to a hard drive. There is software Magic Ripper to copy the files from DVD to hard drive. To copy the file with no loss of quality.

If your DVD movie is DVD5 which is smaller than 4.7 GB (which is actually 4.38 GB in windows), you can copy the full disc to a 4.7 GB blank DVD.

If your DVD movie is DVD9 which is larger than 4.7 GB (which is actually 4.38 GB in windows), you have 3 choices as shown below.
1. You can copy the full disc to an 8.5 GB blank DVD (DVD+R DL or DVD-R DL). Please refer to Option A. But blank DL DVD is expensive and has more compatibility issues with DVD burners and players.
2. You can copy the main movie only, excluding unwanted audios and subtitles, to a 4.7 GB blank DVD. Please refer to Option B. But some main movies are still larger than 4.7 GB (which is actually 4.38 GB in windows).
3. You can split the full disc to two 4.7 GB blank DVDs. Our program will copy the beginning of main movie, menus and extras on disc 1, the rest of main movie on disc 2

To transfer the movies from DVD to your computer use a connecting lead between a computer and DVD and appropriate ripping software (e.g. Clone DVD) and do the transfer with a single click.

The ripping software will convert the files to MP4 format and save the files in the disk.
Now the files are ready to be copied into iPhone. Scan the files into iTunes so that they are in sync with the iTunes library and transfer the files. This process is very easy and fast.

The above copying is allowed only if you own the movies in the DVD. E.g. Software like Nero will not allow to copy if there is protection. There are some reliable download sites in the internet to copy movies, games, music into iPhone. These sites offer excellent value for money. Otherwise use alternative software to remove the protection and copy the files.

But care should be taken when downloading files from sites. There are some illegal download sites which people use to spread viruses in your computer and full of malware. If you have ever used those sites in the past, please make sure that you run the updated antivirus software in your hard disk and do a full check on your computer.
Keep you antivirus software always on so that you get a popup for virus check when downloading any file from internet.
