Want to build a patio, but are a little short on cash? Here are some tips to guide you through the process of building a patio for next to nothing.
.) Patios are gorgeous no matter which materials you use to build them. If you really like the look of stone, there are a couple of things you can do. It's fairly easy to learn how to build a patio that looks like stone, but much easier on the wallet. Use broken pieces of paving stones. Then you can use them together and make a nice mosaic pattern to create a beautiful design. You can use spray paint on them and create some really great stone looks by using neutral and natural colors.
.) Check your local garden supply stores for paving stones after summer. This is because they are in high demand during the summer and when it is over the prices usually drop. Most garden and patio supplies go on sale after the summer ends and fall and winter begin. So if you want to save money while designing your patio and garden, waiting until the weather cools is a sure way to get your supplies at a discount.
.) This same principle applies to having your concrete poured as well. If you look for a time when the cement companies do not have as much business you can usually get it done for less. Again, after Summer and Spring, business dies down. You may not be considering your patio during the winter, but with a little planning ahead you can get fantastic discounts from the cement companies. Of course if you do not want to wait, you can always learn how to build a patio on your own using some bagged concrete.
.) Consider learning how to build a patio with lower grade concrete. This is much cheaper than some of the higher grades, and can be every bit as beautiful. You can save even more money by building the patio on your own or just with a few close friends or family members.
