How many hours are wasted every year standing in front of the mirror deliberating over which items you should mix and match to make the ideal outfit? It can be incredibly tempting to impulse buy all kinds of stunning separate items as you cruise the aisles in your local department store; leaving you with a lot of beautiful individual items that you struggle to pull together into sleek and stylish outfits. In this article hopefully I will be able to give you some pointers on how to plan your purchases ahead of time meaning that you end up with items that are complementary and stylish without the added cost and hassle of hiring a personal stylist.

Step 1: Sort out your wardrobe.

The first thing to do is go through all of the clothing that you already own. The chances are you will have a lot of clothes that is worn out, no longer fits or is simply out of fashion. Taking some time to go through all of the items that you own and getting rid of clutter that you will never wear can make the process of choosing an outfit, and working out what purchases you actually need to make that much easier.

Step 2: Plan outfits in advance.

When sorting through your wardrobe decide on outfits that go really well together and make a note if there are any items of clothing that you lack that might really pull together some of your existing garments. Doing this will give you some direction for the next time you go shopping; meaning you are more likely to end up buying clothes that you actually need rather than large quantities of stunning pieces that don't work together.

Step 3: Try the clothes on

This doesn't just refer to when you are buying new items but the items that are in your closet. When you have some free time why not set a little of it aside to decide on a few outfits that you really like the look of. Try some new garments on with some of your older items and try and create new and unique outfits. Doing this will save you time next time you are trying to piece together an outfit for that big night out in a hurry.

As a larger fashionista (plus size 26) I often find it difficult to find plus size clothes that I really like. By following the three tips that I have outlined above I find it far easier to find items of plus size clothing that compliment my figure and pull together with items of clothing I already own into cohesive and fashionable outfits.

Hopefully you will be able to use the advice that I have given above to arrange your wardrobe and clothing purchases resulting in some fantastic and fashionable outfits that you wouldn't previously have considered.
