Social media is certainly taking the Internet by storm right now. However if you have a home business I think a case can be made for cozying up to the search engines as much as you do your next friend or follower at Twitter or Facebook.
In this article let me give you a couple of reasons why you should become friendlier with search engines if you are trying to build a home business of your own.
1. Organic search engine results can bring you long term traffic zero out of pocket costs. This is a long-term solution to an unbelievable amount of traffic to your website or blog. Now this is not to say that you're not going to work extremely hard to earn these organic rankings.
In case you are not sure what that means when you look across the top of a page on Google and down the right hand column those are sponsored links. The advertisers are paying Google by the click to be in that position.
If you look at the results under those going down the left-hand side you will see what is called organic results. These are websites that have earned the right to be ranked extremely high for that targeted keyword phrase.
There are many things that go into this ranking, but the traffic that comes from it is free. You are not billed by Google when somebody clicks on your link.
It takes a lot of hard work to earn the rankings for these various keyword phrases. But it can be easier to start with long drawn out phrases with less competition and build up backlinks spontaneously from those.
However if you are willing to work hard enough you can eventually you can rank as high as you want for your targeted phrases. This will give you an unbelievable amount of traffic to your home business website.
2. Some people are not willing to put in that type of work and would rather purchase a sponsored link. If you can do this with Google or any other pay per click search engine then you only get billed when a person clicks on your ad.
