Trojan Virus

The name "Trojan" is derived from the famous Greek legend, where the Greeks won the war. After a mini defeat the Greeks left and the Trojans thought the Greeks were gone for good, and the war was over. But in reality some of the Greeks were hiding in a wooden horse. They crept out in the night opened the gates, making way for other Greeks to enter began a fight and finally won the war. A Trojan Virus is a malicious class of malware that disguises itself as a useful program or function and infiltrates a computer, as you invite the program into your system. They cause great damage to your computer by allowing unauthorized access, therefore they are considered as a serious threat to a computer. These viruses can also be used to view discreet information in anyone's computer, which gives the hacker direct control over the computer. Basically these Trojan viruses allow a hacker, access to your system and create chaos in your system.

A Trojan virus can infiltrate you system in many ways - it can come as an e-mail attachment, via chat programs, in websites or as a part of a software. There is no set way for the operation of these viruses, this is probably because they are set by different people with different targets in mind. They are cleverly fixed in order to lure an unsuspecting victim. For example, you may download a simple music track or open an e-mail, and suddenly you will find weird things, such as sites opening without you doing anything, receiving or transferring data, or illegal activities taking place. In a nutshell, your system has been HACKED and you have been TROJANED!

There are various types of Trojan viruses:
1.Remote Access Trojans
2.Keyloggers
3.Password Sending Trojans
4.Mail-Bomb Trojan
5.Destructive
6.FTP Trojans
7.Software Detection Killers
8.Proxy/Wingate Trojans
9.Denial Of Service (DoS) Attack Trojans

There can also be different combinations of the above mentioned types. Trojans are used mainly to spread more of the virus to other networks. They are also known as "zombie computers". One of the main things to be noted is that Trojans differ from viruses and other worms. A virus basically attaches itself to a software or application and spreads from one computer to another, the worm also is similar but the only difference is it can spread by itself to other computers, without any human intervention. The Trojan differs from both these types of malware - it cannot replicate or spread itself, but causes some serious damage to the system. For a Trojan to spread itself one needs to invite this executable file into their system. Executable files generally perform actions, in this case adverse ones. The best and most dangerous feature of this virus is that it can disguise itself into any program such as a movie, song, game, file, etc.

Here are some tips to avoid Trojans:

1.Check before you download anything for free.
2.Avoid opening e-mails from senders you do not know.
3.If you are not too sure of the purpose of a program, do not allow it to run or install.
4.Have a good and reputed security system.
5.Don't think that Trojans cannot enter just because you have a security system installed. These are viruses that trick you into accepting them, you need to be careful anyway.
6.Be cautious about anything you install or set up in your system. Read the agreement or any other instructions.
7.Enable a firewall to protect your system and give you extra protection.
8.Select a spam filter in your e-mail.
9.Make sure you visit only secure sites.
10.Beware of hidden file extensions.

By now you would know what kind of an extensive damage the Trojan virus can cause to your PC. You need to get it out of your system as fast as possible. There are various types of system security software you can use to protect your system. Be sure that this is reputed software, and always download the latest version. Most of them will detect and take care of the virus before any damage occurs, but you need to remember that no anti-virus software can guarantee a complete and thorough protection.
