Google Ad servers have crashed causing the otherwise omnipresent Google Ads to disappear from millions of web pages viewed in India. The situation looks critical as on 11.03.2010, with very long breakdown extending several hours.
During the last few weeks, Google the most widely used search engine which makes money by publishing content relevant text and image ads in millions of websites has been very erratic in serving Ads in India. Publishers, find Blank spaces in all websites where Ads should appear. The problem continues for hours before Ads reappear.
Incidentally, the problem do not seem to be due to shortage of Ad inventory. What is happening is total blackout during which time no Google Ad appears in millions of pages viewed in India, across all websites.
Its surprising that Google has not been able to attend to the issue though the problem has been simmering for weeks.
While the Google Adwords Ads can be seen in Google Search Result Pages without break, Ads are not delivered consistently, in the content network . The performance has been very poor leaving thousands of publishers feeling let downInterestingly, since Adwords are appearing in Google Search Pages, Google makes money there.
But Ad publishers who also post paid Ads in Google Search, lose the opportunity to recover part of the costs, since their website are not displaying any Ads.
On 11 th March, the breakdown has been continuing since the afternoon and as this report is filed at 7.00 PM, normalcy is still not restoredPublishers across the country. including very large media houses like Time of India, Hindu, Sify etc have not been able to display any Google Ads for hours everyday, during last few weeks.
Publishers complain that no response have been received from Google for any customer support complaints filed regarding frequent Adsense/Adwords Crash.
Google looks to be on its way to lose goodwill and may end up with big dent in its brand image with regard to dependability and efficiency
