Give Your Body the Right Nutrition to Heal Itself
I was diagnosed with chronic fatgiue syndrome 24 years ago and nutrition became an important element for me to focus on daily. Proper Nutrition allows your body to function better and gives your body the building blocks to heal itself. One key that many people overlook is ensuring they drink enough water. You need to drink six to eight glasses of water a day and provide your cells with proper nutrition to protect and help them function better. The ones I use are:
1) Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s): You can take a supplemention form with includes Vitamin E to protect the EFA’s from being destroyed, which I take daily. Good food sources are: fish (cold water fish), nuts (walnuts), seeds (flax, sunflower, sesame, and pumpkin), avocado, green leafy vegetables, beans (navy, soy, and kidney.)
2) Antioxidants: You can find them in vitamin A (beta carotene), C, E, and the amino acid gluthionine. Good food sources are carrots, almonds, squash berries, broccoli, tomatoes, potatoes, asparagus, and leafy greens, sweet potatoes, red peppers, cauliflower, apricots, wheatgerm, bareley, soybeans, brussel sprouts, and oatmeal.
You need to also maintain a good digestive system so your foods are broken down and assumulated by your cells because you don’t want your body to think of your foods as foreign and cause you more tiredness instead of energy and strength. You can eat small meals, not be in a hurry to eat, but sit and chew your foods into a liquid form, so you are more able to digest them. Eat when you are hungry, so your digestive fire is at its highest and stop when you are full. Don’t have emotional charged subjects during meal times. Provide your digestive system with fibre and water to eliminate waste by-products. I found I became tired, especially after meals if I didn’t follow the above.
Avoid consuming trans-fatty acids because of its ability to destroy healthy cells which are found in fast or snack or fried foods or commercial baked goods. I have noticed lately though that “no trans fat” is printed on many products such as salad dressings, crackers, margarine, potato chips, and vegetable oil. It is also important to be aware of free radicals which are unstable molecules that have the ability to penetrate and cause damage to the cells. Antioxidants help to neutralize free radicals in the body by turning the unpaired molecule into a more stable form of water. The main causes are stress, poor diet, constipation, smoking, chlorinated water, toxins, and radiation.
Learning to eat the right foods and the right way has helped my digestive system, but also has provided me with fuel to boost my energy enough to accomplish the tasks that I need to do during the day. If the only task was to get out of bed in the morning and maybe walk down the stairs I would have accomplished something huge because it enabled me to get something to eat to fuel my body to go back up the stairs, but the positive side, at least I was able to do something. And I always remembered and repeated to myself, Everyday and everyway I am getting healthy and I am strong.
