Right now many individuals are having a horrible experience marketing their Florida home. Since the Florida real estate prices still dropping lots of people have decided to try to sell their home by themselves without the help of a real estate agent. The good news is if they sell their home they are going to save themselves quite a lot of money since they won't need to pay the typical 6% commission that a majority of real estate agents charge. The bad news is it is extremely unlikely that they'll actually sell their home.

Why is this the case?

Simple...Without having a real estate agent there isn't a lawful way to get your home placed in an MLS (multiple listing servcie), and having your home or property placed in your local multiple listing service is an absolute must if you really want to sell your home. Roughly 90% of home sales in the country are listed in an MLS.

Then again, if you use one of the many Florida flat fee MLS companies available you can get your home placed in your local MLS while saving yourself thousands of dollars. A Florida Flat fee MLS company permist you to place your home in your local MLS for a one-time fee which can cost less than $300. Of course, if a real estate agent brings the customer you will need to still pay out that real estate agent their share (usually 3%), but you do not have to pay a selling agent another 3%. That means using one of the many Florida flat fee MLS services will save you at least 1/2 of the commission. Do not underestimate this...3% of a $250,000 house is $7,500! That is quite a bit of savings. And, if a customer comes to you without a real estate agent you pay NO fees at all for a savings of $15,000 on a $250,000 house!

It is easy to understand why people want to sell their Florida home without a real estate agent. Unfortunately, it is very unlikely that the house will actually sell since it won't be placed in any MLS. Choosing one of the many Florida flat fee MLS services is absolutely the best strategy if you need to sell your house AND save thousands of dollars in real estate fees.
