Working out is gratifying – there’s no doubt about that. You let yourself in the gym, aiming for the best set of biceps and washboard abs. When you finally achieved the form you’ve always wanted, your eyes light up like a 100-megawatt bulb. By then, you know you’ve scored a fitness victory.

However, reaching such goals will take time, if not a long shot. One’s workout could turn monotonous as your hype decreases, and you might find it dragging to perform even the simplest and easiest of drills. You’ll then realize that your momentum and motivation are at an all-time low. Your routine has to change or you’ll have to eventually say goodbye to your dreams of sporting a chiseled body.

Having a gym buddy is a two-way process; you become someone’s personal trainer and trainee at the same time. Being partners, you watch each other’s workout to give corrective feedbacks. Someone who shares a common goal with you

To be able to complement each other’s workout, the two of you needs to have the same target. If you are working out to lose weight, getting someone whose target is to put up some pounds as a gym partner is asking for disaster. So it’s a good start to clearly define what you want to achieve before even asking that of your potential gym buddy.

Someone who is punctual, consistent and vacant

For obvious reasons, make sure that the person you will invite to be your gym buddy is not yet someone else’s partner. You should also keep in mind that time is of the essence – the last thing you would want is a gym partner who is always late or worse, skips sessions.
