The road to financial freedom has been accomplished by many by going into business for themselves selling products online. This is done mainly through sites like Ebay, Pricegrabber and Amazon.com. Before starting an online small business the first thing you have to decide is what is it that you are going to sell?
Keep in mind you have to find suitable products that you can resell for a decent profit. Some say that if you are in business and you are not making a profit then really what you are doing is a hobby. Something else to consider when you list your products for sale on the internet is that often times your competitors can see how much you are asking for your products and then they usually proceed to list the same item cheaper than yours. Usually most internet shoppers do go for the cheaper priced item. Sometimes if you have a high feedback score this will encourage perspective buyers to buy from you even if your product is slightly higher in price.
One last thing to consider before you start selling products online is if you want to do it full time or part time? Be aware that if you want the dream of using the internet to lead you to financial freedom than you will have devote a serious amount of time in the venture especially when you are just starting up. We can only get out of something what we put into it. Take your time and don't get discouraged.
Once you get your first order be sure to ship the item off in a timely fashion. Double and triple check delivery address. This prevents you from having to send a second item or granting a refund. If you can package the item in a nice box or an official box from Post Office, UPS or FEDEX then do it. Little things like packaging makes a difference and is often reflected in feed back scores. It is standard operating business practice now a days to add a tracking number to the item you are shipping. The tracking number provides an extra peace of mind for you the seller and the buyer. Often buyers will inquire by email about their purchase. It provides good customer services as well as makes you as the business owner look good when you have tracking numbers.
You may want to do a trial run experience of buying and selling on the internet by purchasing a small item online. This will help you understand a little better some of these concepts we are going over. My favorite shopping sites are: Ebay, Half.com, Pricegrabber and last but not least Amazon.com.
With any business it is going to take time to grow. Get rich quick schemes rarely work. Mentally prepare yourself to do it right and take your time. It never pays to rush matters. So I would suggest don't quit your day job. Hold onto your regular job until the online business becomes profitable enough to make just as much or more income than the job you have now.
Best of luck to you all.
