Our bodies also use fat to store calories until we need them for energy.

There are three types of fat found in foods. Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated (omega-3 fatty acids) are considered the healthiest. These can be found in certain types of vegetable oils and fish oils. The other fat, saturated fat, is the fat you want to try and limit. These fats are in meat and dairy products and have been linked to an increased risk of heart disease and colon cancer.

Many of us are familiar with how easily excess dietary fat can turn to excess stored fat in our bodies. Storing fat is a good thing in that it is used to supplement its energy supply, but too much fat, just turns to fat.

There are a lot of ways to trim fat from your diet, including baking, steaming, broiling or microwaving your foods instead of frying them. Other ways are to eat low-fat, or non-fat foods. You can be creative in other ways to trim the fat and maintain a healthy body.

Making the change for a healthy lifestyle is the way to lose excess fat and keep it off. Without diets or slimming products. Once your on the road to eating healthier, your body will maintain the weight you want on its own.
