The simple truth of the matter is that good jobs are simply hard to come by. And, once a job has been obtained, it is very easy to be sacked for the slightest indiscretion because there are so many more workers than there are jobs, it seems. In order to best perform at a job, it is important for people to know what not to do at a job just as much as they should know what they should be doing. There are seven key things that one should certainly avoid, if they want to keep their jobs. Most businesses are looking at ways to cut cost and save money and are looking at low cost recruitment companies to help with a low flat fee style of recruitment. So you should beware of your actions in the office!
The First Way- Sloth
The easiest way that you can lose your job is to be absolutely lazy. Employers are looking for workers that will take the extra initiative. So, if you work in the IT department and you decide to play chess online rather than consolidate a database, you might not be at that position for very long.
The Second Way- Envy
Another easy way to get fired from a job is to be absolutely extravagant in your complaints. If you go around your co-workers stating how unfair the company has been to you and how you should be in charge of the office, chances are, the office will not like having you around. Being envious of the accomplishments of others is one thing, but complaining about it openly is a sure-fire way to get booted.
The Third Way- Lust
Being inappropriate at work is one of the fastest ways to get fired. If you work in HR, but continue to tell your co-workers that they look delicious in tight skirts or a new tie, you may as well just stay home, because you are going to be fired, almost on the spot; especially if you are put in the HR position, which is a position of trust and responsibility.
The Fourth Way- Greed
Another key way to get fired fast is by looking out for number one. If you see an opportunity that you want, but think that a co-worker would benefit and may even be helpful from the opportunity, take it for yourself if you want to get fired soon. Including others shows the ability to partake in team work.
The Fifth Way- Gluttony
Taking everything for you and leaving nothing for others is a sure fire way to be canned. As you learned in preschool, it is important to share.
The Sixth Way- Pride
There is nothing wrong with taking pride in your work, but taking too much pride can result in you appearing arrogant.
The Seventh Way- Wrath
In any position, from administration to engineering, if you take your anger out on others, even if you feel that they deserve it, you will probably be let go soon for "anger issues."
