Effective hair loss treatment is dependent on what has caused the hair loss. For men it is often a combination of age and genes. I know this sounds simplistic but it is true that men whose family have been bald or have thin hair will usually also have thinning hair.
There is a myth that if baldness is in your family that there is nothing that you can do about it - this is untrue. Even as a last resort you can always get a hair transplant - I know it's expensive but it does work in 80% of cases. I suppose it depends if you ave $3k and up to 8 months to see if it works then by all means give it a try.
For us mere mortals that haven't got that kind of money and don't want to risk being the 20% where the treatment is unsuccessful then you will have to opt for those treatments that seem to be tried and proven.
The most effective ones seem to be those that have a combination of both 'natural' and 'drug compounds' contained. Again caution should be taken as with taking any treatment if it's drug related that's why you should look for treatments that have at least an FDA approved drug for hair loss otherwise you risk doing more harm than good and possibly even losing more hair and that is certainly not what you want to achieve!
So what should I look for?
The most effective natural compound that seems to be reversing hair loss is a natural herb called Saw palmetto and it seems to be included im most natural remedies that work. Not all products have this as it seems to be quite expensive - but let's face it if it works it's worth checking out!
The most effective FDA approved drug seems to be called Minoxidil. It strong enough to work on men and at the same time doesn't have as many of the harmful side effects of some of the others and the good thing about this compound is that it also seems more suitable for women as many of these hair loss products do have health warnings and or side effects - so always use cautiously.
