Your rescue plan starts now!

Whether you’re stuck in a counterfeit “MLM/network marketing” business or distributor organisation, or in an anti-”MLM” group, the first step is really simple. When you find you’ve dug yourself into a hole, for pete’s sake STOP DIGGING!

If you’re in an “MLM” organisation, take whatever steps are needed to resign. If you have product, explore what avenues exist for obtaining a refund. Same with sales aids and literature. But understand that any company is perfectly within its rights to refuse a refund on products or literature that are no longer current or in saleable condition.

Be prepared to walk away if necessary. I realise that this may mean taking a hit financially, but you need to measure that against the stress and emotional turmoil (which can become physical illness if it’s prolonged or intense enough) of trying to fight a battle where the other side moves the goal posts and rewrites the rule book — they probably have themselves covered in all that legalese you didn’t bother studying in your haste to sign up.

The main thing is get past all this as soon as possible. If you allow yourself to become trapped in an endless cycle of attack and defence with these people, you’re still a victim. A fish is never off the hook until the hooks are all removed from its mouth. Don’t keep going back to swallow more bait… these people will keep baiting you forever if you let them. End it. Walk away. Forget your pride or ego, or proving who’s right or wrong. THEY don’t care… they’re going to have you tagged as loser or quitter. That says more about them than it does about you.

Study the following sections carefully and take the action steps as fast as you can without trying to run before you can walk. And don’t let yourself become bitter and twisted. That’s victim stuff. Let it go. The first step is to become a survivor, not stay a victim.

Balance is the key

When you’ve been victimised, it goes without saying that your emotions and attitudes are in turmoil. You feel violated and used. That makes you vulnerable, still, to charlatans or even well-meaning people or groups who don’t really know how to help in any meaningful, reliable way.

Being able to restore a sense of balance is vital to moving from being a victim to being a survivor, and indispensible for moving from survival to full recovery.

When you’re in control of your own circumstances, you naturally have a balanced outlook that’s reflected in your emotions and attitudes. This balance then gives real purpose to what you say and do – your behaviour. So the urgent priority is regain control over your circumstances.

The sad truth is that few people in this world are ever truly in control of their lives. They make do, protecting themselves as best they can, but genuine personal control is usually fleeting, and limited only to the areas of our lives where our strengths lie.

The key to personal control is to be able to find the correct perspective on your circumstances. When you have the correct perspective, it automatically gives balance to your emotions and attitudes and purpose to your behaviour in a natural chain reaction of cause and effect.

You’ve made an important start simply by realising the true nature of counterfeit “MLM” or “network marketing”. Almost nobody understands this reality… or, rather, this illusion of reality. But those who do are able to enjoy predictable, desirable results that produce secure, long term rewards – yet never at the expense of other people.

They reject Win-Lose and Lose-Win for what they are… counterfeits that are nothing more than Lose-Lose posing as a win to fool them.

True Fourth Generation™ systems of any kind are implicitly Win-Win, because those involved realise that it’s the only way to demonstrate real integrity.

Steps to Survival

It’s important to have a clearly defined track to run on when you want to achieve success, and moving from victim to survivor is no different. So here are the essential steps you need to follow to achieve that result.

Step 1 – Recognise and accept reality

One of the toughest challenges most victims face at the start is denial. They can’t face the harsh reality that what they’ve poured so much hope and expectation into has failed to deliver on its promises. Many will keep trying to make it work, refusing to accept the painfully obvious facts.

You’ll save yourself heartache and stress — and further financial losses — by recognising that your trust and inexperience have been abused and accepting that there’s probably not much you can do about it at this point. Instead of stressing, proceed to step 2.

Step 2 — Set aside thoughts of revenge

Set them aside and make plans to come back at a later date to see what, if anything, can be done to seek justice. Often, by the time you revisit the issue, the authorities and the courts will have stepped in and shut down the scammers. Sometimes you can claim a share of any compensation funds retrieved by the authorities on behalf of victims.

The point is, you can’t do much right now unless you occupy a position of strength, and that’s rarely the case for victims. So don’t waste energy and anger on people who really don’t care. As the song says, “don’t get mad — get even!” The best revenge is massive success. And it’s a dish best eaten c-o-l-d.

Step 3 — Don’t remain a victim. Fix the problem, not the blame!

Whatever you do, don’t allow yourself to become trapped in the self-perpetuating — and ultimately self-defeating — loop of blame fixing, finger pointing and MLM bashing. It soon becomes a negative round of self justification, and you’ll soon find your friends and family avoiding you as desperately as when you were grinding their ears about how fantastic your “MLM” opportunity was before you crashed and burned. You risk becoming a bore. Worse… a bore with a mission!

Stay away from the anti-”MLM” crowd. They have nothing to offer you of any lasting worth. Sure, they may provide you with comfort and sympathy in the short term, but they breed bitterness, resentment and you’ll soon find yourself chanting their irrational, self serving “mantras” at the mere mention of “MLM”.

Get over your anger. You can’t climb higher by tearing things down.

Step 4 — Get a more accurate perspective

Spend some time studying the information on this site and our other sites (see Useful resources). Rise above your present situation for a bigger picture. A higher perspective is usually more accurate and reliable because you can see more clearly. You can often work out cause and effect, as well… why and how you came to be in your present situation.

A more accurate perspective gives balance to your emotions and attitudes and purpose to your actions — very useful attributes when you’re trying to move forward.

Make a detailed, workable plan for your recovery. Keep it simple, and work at putting it into action every day. Take small steps
