The disadvantages start with the cost, of course. PPC and paid ads can be very expensive if you are not careful. Another disadvantage is that after your campaign ends, the traffic to your site dries up.

So Which is Better?
Is one method more effective than the other? I don't think so. The ideal way to market would be to incorporate both strategies. What is important though is to make sure that your site does a good job of converting visitors to leads and eventually to customers. I mean what good does it do if after all of your hard work, or after all the money you spend, that you get a lot of people to your site but nobody buys anything. That would be very discouraging indeed. On the other hand, you can have that most dynamic site in the world, but if nobody ever sees it, you won't make any money that way either.
