Brightening One’s Day

So your friend seems to be having “one of those days.” Nothing has been going right for her since she took that first step out of bed and managed to trip over a shoe on the ground and fall smack on her face. Believe me; it only went downhill from here. After that, it was running out of hot water in the shower, burning the toast, spilling hot coffee on her new white shirt while driving to work, and being ten minutes late.

You may laugh at this but the truth is that we have all been down this road before. Most of us have those days where nothing seems to be working out for us and we just want to crawl under a rock. Usually when these days occur there is someone there to bring hope and joy to our lives in one way or another.

What are some different things that cheer you up? There are several different ways that you can brighten someone’s day. Let’s take a look at a couple ideas in case your friend is the next one that is seriously considering crawling under the rock.

Give a Card

We have been giving and receiving cards for the longest time. I think this is one of the most effective forms of making someone’s day. Nowadays, you can send a card over the internet. I am more of an ole’ fashioned gal, where as, I enjoy making homemade cards. That way, you can add your own unique touches and really customize the card for the special person you are giving it to. If that isn’t your cup of tea, no worries, buy a card and write a nice note. What person would not appreciate that?

Buy Flowers

This is probably more of a woman thing, although there are gift baskets from Glendale Flowers that any guy would be pleased to get. Like cards, flowers have always been a timely gift. There is an array of choices to choose from in terms of the type of flower, the color, the display, and so on. The possibilities are endless with this one. And remember, bigger is not always better. A simple flower is surely enough to liven one’s day.

Treat Them to Coffee

Sometimes people just simply want to talk about their crummy day and what’s been going on with them just to get it out. So offer to take them for a coffee on your break. Try to pick a place that has a casual and relaxing atmosphere. Creating a comfortable space will help keep them calm and also probably help them open up more to you.

These are just a couple of the many things that may help cheer someone up. So the next time someone around you is clearly having a rough day, why not try one of these out? And if the person happens to be you, no worries, these ideas could still apply!
