You may be thinking that's sort of ineffective but the idea is that he's offering more value than everyone or mostly everyone else. Everyone gets the feeds with links and offerings and he generates a ton of leads. Bob also uses other social networking forums to promote his training to new prospects everyone online.

Bob Howard uses some of the biggest names in the industry to help promote his profile, Mike Dillard, Cedrik Harris etc. When you are friends with megastar experts like these, there is a ton of value added to what you're promoting. It works out really nice when you can post a promotion on Dillard's wall and have thousands of people looking at it. Now multiply that by 5 or 6 walls. How many thousand people will view your ad. Case closed.

Well to be honest they are both great ways of marketing, but it can take a while to build a list of 40,000 followers, it's a lot of clicking. It can be difficult with fb too. They have monitors or the fb police as I like to call them. They are really cracking down on people promoting on their site now a days and you have to be delicate in how much you promote using their site and following all their rules, but there are ways around everything.
