If you've been getting into barefoot running (unless you use Vibram's Fivefingers) then you've probably realized that some days are just too insanely hot to run on the blistering blacktop. I've got three fixes (other than strapping on a pair of Vibrams Fivefingers) that'll keep your feet cool even on a scorching hot day:

Hot day trick #1: Try some trails!

If you've got woods or any hiking trails near you, they can be a nice, cool alternative to pavement. I even enjoy running trails in my Vibrams Fivefingers, because you feel the impact a lot less on a trail than you do on hard asphalt. The best types of trails are wooded ones that don't have too many rocks and roots - although if you're cheating (Like I do) and wearing your Vibrams Fivefingers then it doesn't matter :-)

Hot day trick #2: Get off the road!

If you have to be running on roads and you don't like the idea of wearing Vibrams Fivefingers, then try running in the grass just to the side of the road - just be sure to keep an eye peeled for road debris or broken glass that could be hidden in the grass (You can call me a wimp, but things like that are why I swear by Vibrams Fivefingers for most of the running I do)...

Hot day trick #3: Get some Vibrams Fivefingers!

Look, I know it's not as burly as running barefoot, but you can get a great workout, keep your feet in excellent shape, and practice your barefoot running form - all without blistered feet from hot roads or gashed from hidden leaf springs if you just get some Vibrams Fivefingers for hot days.

Vibrams Fivefingers are comfortable, lightweight, and they don't have excessive padding like traditional running shoes. I'd recommend checking out some of the rave reviews and killer information over at Vibram Fivefingers website if you're on the fence. And if Vibrams Fivefingers are just too weird looking for you, then you might want to look at the Nike Free, or any of the other minimalist running shoes on the market (or even a pair of wrestling shoes).

With or without Vibrams Fivefingers, there's a lot to know about barefoot running if you're going to keep your feet safe and secure. On the next page you can grab a free report that gives you a "Barefoot survival kit" that no barefoot runner should be without (Vibrams Fivefingers not included).
