Have you ever had the impression that your articles were drowning in a sea of similarly titled articles on similar topics?

When so many articles are competing for just a few readers’ attention, how to do you position your articles at the cutting edge of the online world?

Use these 7 tips to write articles that are “one in a million” rather than “one of the millions”.

1 - Be original. You may be in the habit of reading articles by other authors in your niche--that is fine, so long as you resist the urge to imitate their writing style or duplicate their content. If you see other authors writing about a particular topic over and over again, you must find a different way to approach the topic or else choose a topic that hasn’t been covered. By all means, every article you write should be 100% unique.

2 - Have higher standards. Your articles can stand out by being of higher quality than the abundance of sub-par articles that are floating around the internet. Go the extra mile by having a friend proofread your article for grammar and spelling issues. A well-written article stands out from the crowd.

3 - Never stop learning. Do you think you know all you need to know to do your work? That may be true, but when you are submitting articles, there are perks to continuously expanding your knowledge on your topic. The more you learn and know, the more you can teach to others.

4 - Be creative. No matter if your particular topic has been covered a million and one times, there is still a new angle that you can take. Think about your favorite teacher in school, the one that made you love Math, Science, Greek, or English. What made the teacher stand out to you? Most likely it was the creativity and passion in which that teacher conveyed his or her knowledge. Many teachers can be teaching the same topic, but one can stand out if they are creative.

5 - Teach effectively. Are you worried that because there are tons of articles already on your particular topic that it’s all been said and done? If a topic is popular on the internet, it is because there are many people who are interested in it. If the topic has been exhausted and a definitive answer has already been published, why are there still people searching for the answer? Think about it--no matter how many articles are on your general topic, there are still readers who are confused, who are searching, who are in need of an explanation that they can understand. Teach your topic better than those who have written about it previously, and your articles will have an edge.

6 - Look for overlooked topics. There may be tons of people writing about your niche, but there is no way that every last topic has been covered. Look for topics that remain unexplored. Remember that many people are looking for basic information on your topic. Many times it is the most obvious and basic topics that are overlooked.

7 - Write an article summary that attracts attention. The article summary is visible in search engine results listings and also on most article directories where your article is published. Write your summary carefully--use it as a marketing tool to lure readers into reading your article. Specifically, what will your article teach the reader? What benefits will the reader gain by reading your article?

Which of these tips will you use on your next article? Gradually work on incorporating all 7 tips and watch your articles jump off the screen and catch your target readers’ attention.
