Are .edu Backlinks Worthless Or A Must Have Link To Your Site And How Do You Get Them

       

Did you know there are billions of dot com info sites on the web but only tens of thousands of .edu domains? The only way you can get a .edu domain is to be a registered educational establishment.

Most education institutions allow their students and staff to blog on their mainframe and have an extension of .edu. This allows the staff to communicate amongst the faculty and allows students to blog to their hearts content, for free.

Some students have found they can make a sound living from their blogging efforts. This income can pay for their equipment, books, clothes, entertainment and food. Gone are the days when a studying student is working two jobs.

Students offer their sites to marketers to post a link for a weekly donation or a monthly donation. The higher the page rank the higher the donation should be.

Student blogs also market affiliate products and having the .edu in the url means their sites get high positions on the search engines.

The reason why .edu sites are often number one or well entrenched on page one of any search engine is because .edu links are trusted and come from high page rank domains.

This is a bonus for a marketer if they can get a .edu back link to their site. If your site is languishing among thousands of other sites, then one or two .edu links will rise you to the top.

We have tested three year old sites that have been on page one hundred and over to see it rise into the top twenty with one .edu link. There is no doubt to us at all that .edu links are worth their weight in gold.

We have found that having a blogroll link from a .edu domain, preferably a Wordpress blog that the link is readily picked up by search engines.

Through our testing though, an article with two links, one in the top three paragraphs and the other at the end of the article, definitely out performs a blog roll link.
