What impresses you? Is it the dollar amount they are earning, the car they are driving, the house they’re living in or the life style they are enjoying? You need to know what you are attracted to and how not to be lured into the opposite.
When I first started in network marketing, I was like a moth to a flame with the millions I was going to earn. I was fresh out of college and the video presentation with the big houses and flashy cars looked really good to me. That company was then federally charged with class action suites. So, the money hype left a bad taste in my mouth.
Money still does impress me though, I must admit. And I hate to admit that! Now I am many years into network marketing and I am impressed by far more than a big fat pay check.
I am impressed with integrity. I am impressed by good old work ethic. I am impressed by someone’s ability to help those who are not in their own down line. What really pulls on my heart strings is someone who is living the life style of my dreams. That’s what really impresses me.
There’s an owner of a network marketing company who’s been in the industry for over 20 years. When he talks it’s from his heart and with passion for what this industry has done for him and his family. He shared a story about his son who was then in the 3rd or 4th grade and now graduating and off to college. The teacher asked the students what their parents did for a living. His son said he didn’t know because his parents were always home. Can you imagine that? When he shared that story I cried. Just typing it still makes me teary. That’s what I mean by pulling at your heart strings. That story impresses me!!!
When incomes and checks are paraded across the stage, I’m turned off. Who is behind the check? Do they work their business with integrity?
Knowing that many are impressed with big fat pay checks, there are some that stretch the truth on their income. They can give the illusion that they are making big bucks when in reality they can barely pay the rent. One company suggested that woman wear cubic zirconia’s aka fake diamonds to give the impression of success. Others simply tell lies and pray they will be making that dollar amount soon.
Be true to yourself and don’t let the dangling of carrots or lavish lifestyles lure you away from what you are willing to work for and what you really want. Write down what impresses you and see if that matches up with your company and its leaders.
