Ever since John wrote the Book of Revelations, Christians have been asking this same question. For nearly two centuries, there have been claims that the world was ending. The prophesies throughout the Bible are very vague. Of course, the Old Testament prophesies regarding the coming of Christ were vague, but hind sight is 20/20, and now it is easy to see that Jesus Christ fulfilled every one of them. So why would we expect the end of time prophesies to be any different?
One of the most hotly debated topics is the "Rapture" with regards to its relative timing to the "Great Tribulation". There have been volumes written on that subject, and I have also written an article regarding the topic. To sum up my beliefs, I do not believe that there will be a pre-tribulation rapture. I have many verses to support my belief, and if you are interested in why I believe as I do, please read my other articles.
The natural extension of no pre-tribulation rapture is that we (the Church) will live through the rise of the Anti-Christ and the Great Tribulation. One of the parts of the prophesy in Revelations that speaks to me in particular is the Mark of the Beast. No one will be able to buy, sell, or trade without the mark. I don't claim to know exactly what that mark will be, whether it is a computer chip under the skin, some other biometric device, or an actual mark like a tattoo. At this point, I won't even venture a guess. What speaks to me is the fact that we will not be able to buy or sell anything. I asked myself honestly, could my family and I survive if we couldn't buy or sell anything? Up until a few months ago, the answer was a resounding "No!" I would not have been able to feed my family. We would have had no water. We would have had no electricity. We would not have been able to drive.
That is when I knew it was time for me to take action. I will detail exactly how God has provided for me to be able to survive in a later article. In short, I started my own home based business where I have the ability to make enough money to stock up on the essentials. I am in the process of installing a wind turbine and solar panels so that my house and farm will have electricity without purchasing it from an electric company. Basically, we will be able to be support ourselves, and even thrive when the time comes. The time may not come during my lifetime, but if that's the case, my kids will have access to all of the work I have done, and they will be able to survive and thrive.
When the Anti-Christ comes to power and you do not take the mark of the beast, will you and your family be able to survive? If not, what are you going to do about it?
