One of the biggest bi-annual events for the Oil and Gas industry takes place annually in September of each year at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, Scotland. With a sizeable oil and gas industry in Scotland, this is the perfect place for such a show; a show which attracts a very international and global crowd, with representatives from all aspects of the oil and gas industry normally in attendance.
Over the course of 4 days, the event combines a large exhibition of over 1400 exhibitors, with an extensive conference and workshop programme, combined also with a training and events area. This is a very large trade event and one at which a lot of deals are brokered and partnerships formed, within the offshore industry. Expect to see a lot of higher level management from some very large companies, represented at this event.
A sample of the sectors which you can expect to see represented at the event include major engineering firms, software companies, charter and equipment hire businesses, oil and gas exploration companies and freight forwarding companies to name but a few.
A lot of the talks and workshops are very specific and attract people from each trade area. This is excellent in that it gives you the chance to meet people in your niche within the offshore industry and this creates some excellent networking opportunities at the show. A sample of talks you can sometimes attend include about:
- Enhanced Oil Recovery
- Reservoir Management, and
- Enhanced Oil Recovery Fundamentals
The Aberdeen Exhibition Centre itself is fairly well located in terms of access internationally and for people visiting from outside of Aberdeen. Aberdeen airport is a fairly small airport but is served by airlines including SAS, Eastern Airways, Ryanair and BMI Baby. From the airport you can use a taxi to get direct to the venue or rent a car outside of the airport. For those of you driving to the exhibition, there is a park and ride service to make parking much easier for exhibition attendees.
For exhibitors looking to rent of buy exhibition stands for Offshore Europe, companies including UK specialists Clip Ltd are available to supply a variety of banner, pop up and small, medium and large exhibition stands. Registration is usually free if you complete the online form and if you are looking to exhibit at the event, opportunities are always available provided you book in advance.
